About the Artist

About Bob Brown

Bob Brown is a Colorado-based artist known for richly textured acrylic paintings and expressive pencil drawings exploring memory, landscape, and abstraction. His work captures the feeling of place rather than literal scenes.

Born in New York and raised in Spain, South Africa, Switzerland, and Indonesia, Bob’s experiences shaped his unique vision. Now based in Northern Colorado’s Front Range, he has exhibited locally and internationally. His work is held in private and public collections, and he collaborates on commissions for residential, commercial, and public spaces.

Painting Technique

Using palette knives, Bob layers acrylic paint to create surfaces that change with the light. As light shifts, colors glow or recede, giving each painting a mood that evolves throughout the day—almost like a new painting with every glance.

Scribble Drawings

Bob’s pencil drawings, which he calls “scribbles,” are built from layers of repeated marks and subtle colors. Instead of shading, he creates depth through patterns and overlapping lines. Some drawings depict natural scenery, while others lean toward abstraction, inviting close, thoughtful viewing.
